DERIVES – Slam Poems on Youth Mental Health

Accompanied by Quentin Dujardin‘s ethereal guitars, Pincée de Coco and Paronomasque share their life stories, a journey between despair and light. An emotional rollercoaster accompanies them on their path to adulthood, guided by poetic texts of absolute truth.

In a poetic and musical performance blending spoken word and slam poetry, Pincée de Coco and Paronomasque share texts nourished by their own psychological struggles. Marked by physical violence, medication overuse, and profound inner turmoil, they question our society at the dawn of adulthood. Each artist, with their unique identity, confronts their inner demons, which music helps to exorcise. The audience witnesses their own healing process each evening.

The artists emphasize the importance of activism and commitment in their recovery journey. Through rhymes and poignant testimonies, they denounce the injustices and abuses they suffer as queer, racialized, and/or vulnerable people. The patriarchal emphasis placed on symbolic violence within psychiatric institutions compels us to deconstruct the stigma of the hysterical woman, still far too deeply ingrained in our societies.

The rage of not having been heard has become the driving force behind their writing.
